Theodora "Thea" Wilk

Sergent, part of Casther's squad

About

She/they • bi
Nickname: Thea
age she came to Briggs: 8
age during Briggs arc: 19
personality: ENFP
bubbly, smiles a lot, hard working, cares a lot for her family
(She's kinda like a mix of Casther and Val. She can be chaotic and goofy like Casther, but she definitely has Val's sarcasm and can be a bit moody)
designation at Briggs:
"A person who wants to eat has to work" when Thea came to the fort she quickly had to help all around the fort, despite her young age. They didn't simply didn't have the luxury to do otherwise. However her "work" meant lending a hand by doing minor tasks e. g. at the kitchen or the communications center.
From early age she received training by Casther and was allowed to tag along on patrols as a young teenager or even minor missions in the following years. Eventually she grew part of Casther's squad, joining them even on major missions. Just like Casther she’s specialized in close combat and too fights with daggers, but she's much more pragmatic.

Relationships

  • Casther: her guardian, he's like a father to her, since they're very close he's her no. 1 trusted person "He's the strongest fighter of the fort and the funniest person on earth. One day I wanna be just like him"

  • Val: also like a father to her "I honestly don't know why some people are intimidated by him. He's always been patient to me and never snaps, even if I struggle at some things he tries to teach me."

  • Silas: there are some things you don't wanna tell your parents. In that case, Thea goes to him. He's the cool uncle basically. "Actually Silas is terrible at keeping secrets, I don’tknow why. Casther and I once planned a gift for Val. Silas told him two days later because he couldn't keep the secret."

  • Brooks: If Casther and Val are the dads, him and Richie are like her older siblings. Brooks loves teaching her mechanics stuff and they often played with her when she was younger. "Going on patrol with Brooks and Richie us always a lot of fun!"

  • Richie: Richie is kinda like the annoying big brother and they get on each others nerves every now an then. But just like everyone else he's very protective of her. "Richie got really upset when he realized I grew taller than him. It's just a few centimeters, but to me they make all the difference."

  • Olivier: Growing up at a place that is mostly full of men, Thea naturally looked up to Olivier. Olivier's strength and leadership skills have been a great inspiration for Thea. "She can be a bit scary sometimes, but Val says she doesn't mean it that way. Either way she’s really cool!"

Background

Thea is the daughter of a Drachman scientist (father) and alchemist (mother). They were forcefully working for the Drachman military, having to research new weapons they could use to attack Amestris. Despite everything they were very caring when raising her.
Briggs eventually got note of her parents research and sent a small squad to end it, a squad Casther got assigned to. Casther found the scared girl and they decided to take her to the fort, since she couldn't stay at that place anymore.
Now, why the hell should you keep a little kid at a military base? They argued about sending her to an orphanage, but due to her only speaking Drachman she wouldn't have been taking into their care. They couldn't sent her back to Drachma either. Military command demanded to take her into military care (for various reasons, which I'm gonna explain some other time). Luckily Olivier was able to persuade them to keep her at the fort, but she had to promise that she would be trained. In the end Casther became her guardian and mentor.Growing up at the fort
As described earlier Thea had to help around the fort, but only with minor tasks (that were kid friendly). Most of her time she spent in the kitchen, the communications center or with Val.
Since she couldn't go to school he was the one to teach her how to write, read and to pass any additional knowledge (including first aid). Whenever there was time she trained with Casther who teached her in his own ways (close combat, fighting with knives).
While Casther is her legal guardian, Val quickly took over a similar (unofficial) role. Raising the girl together brought them even closer and it's the main reason why their feelings grew romantic in the first place.

Abilities

There's a reason why Thea wasn't allowed to grow up outside of the military. However I'm still working on the full designs and explanation. Just to give a hint: It has to do with her parents researched she too was a part of.

Trivia

• Once someone thought she's the biological child of Val and Olivier. Not a chance dude.
